Gainsford Brown, Lola
May 2, 1937 – October 2, 2023
Her passing in her sleep was a blessing for the kindness freely given to all during her life! Lola would like to let you know that her work here is done and her wish was granted to join the family members, friends, and FUR babies gone before her. She is now with her husband, Howard Owen Brown, her brother Brian, and Vy Gainsford.
Aunt Lola will be missed for her words of wisdom and guidance by her pride and joys Cindy (the late Richard), Lionel (Jeanne), Susie (Glenn), and Michael (Joanne). Let us not forget the next generation of treasures, Kenn (Ayla), Karl, Sarah (J-F), Ryan, Kelsey (Christophe), and the future generation, Leah and Ludovyck. Her new mission takes her to a place where she will be socializing with a glass of wine in one hand, listening to classical music where laughter and love are guaranteed.
Lola was a humanitarian, visionary adventurer, a strong mentor and an inspiration to all. Her many successes in her lifetime included a business collegiate degree and a 30+ year career working herself up to Regional Controller at Ryder Truck Rental Ottawa District. After retiring, Lola devoted many years to the United Church where her duties included being an elder, a steward, organizing kids night, Harvest Supper meals and bake sales where you could count on Lola’s Queen Elizabeth cakes, nanaimo bars, and buns to be the cat’s meow and she guaranteed you wouldn’t gain a pound. Lola’s last masterpiece was that she was devoted, with stubborn determination, to seeing the GVRV project phase 1 be successfully completed.
Her community will deeply miss all of her positivity, her progressiveness, poise and creative attributes. As per Lola’s wishes, a private family celebration will be held on October 7, 2023. Interment of her ashes will be done at the Hillcrest Cemetery at a future date. Donations can be made to St-Andrew’s United Church of Aylwin Quebec Building Fund by mail at 360 Route 105, Kazabazua, Quebec J0X 1X0, or by e-transfer at trinityuckaz@gmail.com.
Her motto was: “Come in, stay a while, what’s new? What do you want to drink? I got daiquiris, CHEERS!”
